If you're the kind of guy that likes hanging out
with sexy, fun, dedicated, playful, committed, community-minded men, then volunteering along side the Bare Chest Calendar Men is just the ticket for you. Each year the Bare Chest Calendar Men raise thousands of dollars for AIDS Emergency Fund and Positive Resource Center by appearing a series of fundraising events between May and December. A community of volunteers works along side the Men, and behind the scenes, to support their fundraising efforts. This collaborative partnership makes it possible for the Bare Chest Calendar to be successful year after year.

AIDS Emergency Fund (AEF), through the Bare Chest Calendar Committee, owns and operates the Bare Chest Calendar. Recently AEF launched a new volunteer website - The Hearts of Gold, MyVolunteerPage site - to create a way for volunteers to sign up for activities and shifts in a way that was simple to understand and easy to use. Once you've create your MyVolunteerPage profile, including choosing the Bare Chest Calendar as a volunteer interest, you will be able to volunteer throughout the year at Bare Chest Calendar events.

HOW TO SIGN UP:

Signing up to be an AEF Heart of Gold Volunteer is relatively quick and simple through our new volunteer website. Just follow these five easy steps:

STEP 1A: Sign Up – User Name and Email
Create a user name and enter your email address.

STEP 1B: Sign Up – Contact Information
Select a password, enter your contact information and agree with policies.

STEP 2: Sign Up – Qualifications
Please indicate your skills and abilities, so we will be better able to match you with volunteer opportunities. The FIRST THREE qualifications, marked “Activities," will let us know which part of the Emergency Fund family you'd like to volunteer for. If you only want to be recruited for Bare Chest events, then choose 'NO' for both AIDS Emergency Fund and Breast Cancer Emergency Fund and 'YES' for Bare Chest Calendar. Otherwise, make any choices that are appropriate for you volunteer interests. Please take the extra few minutes to answer all the Qualification questions so we can recruit you for appropriate volunteer activities.

STEP 3: Sign Up – Send Comments
This optional step allows you to send us an e-mail during the sign-up process, so you can tell us a little more about your experience or volunteer goals, or to ask us questions.

STEP 4: Sign Up – Please Read
This page explains that the next page is a list of general and specific volunteer activities. Click on “Take me to the volunteer opportunities.”

STEP 5: My Activities – Activity Sign Up
General Volunteer Interests: Take a few minutes to go through the list of “General Volunteer Interests.” Although these are not "scheduled activities" with specific shifts, once you have indicated your general interests we will be able to email you as appropriate volunteer activities become available. That means normally you will not receive information about the volunteers activities that you are not interested in.
Specific Volunteer Activities: Listed below “General
Volunteer Interests” are all volunteer opportunities that currently have or will have scheduled shifts for which you can sign up. If shifts are currently available, you will see dates listed in the right-hand column. If no dates are listed, that means that scheduled shifts have not yet been created.

STEP 6: My Activities - Schedule
There are two tabs in the Activities area. One reads ‘activity sign up’ and the other reads ‘schedule.’ Once you have indicated your General Volunteer Activity interests and signed up for specific volunteer shifts, “My Activities – Schedule” page will list all shifts you have signed up for.

STAYING ACTIVE & UPDATED:

With MyVolunteerPage you can go online at your convenience to update your profile (use the MY PROFILE tab), discover what events and activities are coming up, read the descriptions of tasks that are available, and sign up for any shifts you want. All this can happen from the comfort of your home, day or night. Once you have signed up for an activity, you will then receive confirmation from us with further details and instructions.

Please take a few minutes now to explore the system and familiarize yourself with the layout. Even if you have volunteered for the Bare Chest Calendar for many years, we appreciate you taking the time to complete the volunteer profile information and indicate your General Volunteer Interests. That way, we not only have your most current contact information, but also can customize volunteer opportunities according to your preferences.
